The Creator Behind the Fragrances
In a world that moves fast, she has learned to pause. Not to fall behind, but to recognize the value of the present. To make space and time for the moment—to listen, and to feel. Elissavet Kouzouli does not rush. She chooses to live at a rhythm that allows her to observe the world around her like the many shades of green in nature, the play of light, the whisper of the wind through the leaves, the scent of earth in spring or after the rain, the night sky and its constellations. It is within these sensory details that her creative process begins. With every composition, she strives to translate feeling into substance, to capture the intangible, to preserve the fleeting, time itself, so that it may ultimately become memory.
Elissavet grew up on the island of Zakynthos in Greece. It is an island celebrated for its lush vegetation, as its Mediterranean climate nurtures an abundance of aromatic plants and flowers such as narcissus, rosemary, thyme, chamomile, jasmine, lavender and more. It is not without reason that Zakynthos was it named “Fior di Levante”, the “Flower of the East,” by the Venetians, thanks to its natural beauty. It is a landscape rich in fragrance and the perfect ground to inspire a perfumer. As a child, during school excursions, she would collect narcissus flowers, called “manousakia” in Greek. The flowers of her childhood memories. Perhaps that was the beginning of her first unconscious encounter with the world of perfume.
Chemist - Perfumer
She studied chemistry, believing, and is still a firm believer, that nature itself is chemistry, and chemistry is the scientific tool to understand the world. She pursued postgraduate studies in perfumery at a British university and has dedicated more than twenty years to understanding and exploring fragrance.
Behind every perfume lies a natural composition, an invisible mechanism that explains what we simply feel. This union of science, nature and the senses is what drew her to the art of perfumery. What began as a personal experiment, a hobby, a gift to friends and loved ones, grew over time into a journey of substance, knowledge, and permanence.
For Elissavet, perfumery is not only technique, but also empathy. It is a way of seeing the world and transforming a moment into memory, a fragrance into something that endures. Each composition is an intimate process, an attempt to convey what cannot easily be put into words, a piece of soul.
Every fragrance tells a story and KLEPSIDRA is the time that accompanies it.
